This policy sets out how  Lincolns Family Law uses and protects any information that you give us when you use our services and this website.

When we provide you with legal advice, we process and store your personal information. This may include special category data, for example details of your health or ethnicity. We are legally and professionally obliged to keep your personal information and special category data confidential. We comply with the data protection laws of the UK and EU as well as the rules laid down by the Solicitors Regulation Authority  on client and data confidentiality.

The information we hold may include personal information and special category data. It will often include:

  • Clients name, address, phone number, email address
  • Identifiers such as date of birth; National Insurance, passport and driving licence numbers; photographs or other digital images
  • Financial details could be included, for example bank or mortgage accounts, or information disclosed on a Form E
  • Personal information about your family and other relationships
  • Details of property owned by you solely or with other persons
  • Special category data including health records, Trade Union membership, political affiliations, sexuality, ethnic origin

As family solicitors, while progressing a case we are often given information about children. The relevant parts of this policy applies to children as well as adults.

 

We may share information about you:-

  • within the firm to enable us to deal with your case
  • with other law firms acting for other parties in the same matter
  • with our outsourced providers including for example our accounts provider, case management software provider, risk and compliance consultant or legal transcribers
  • with the intermediary who introduced you to us
  • with law enforcement agencies where required, for example under a Court order
  • with counsel
  • with experts

 

This may involve them handling your personal information. The firm requires third parties to sign a confidentiality document to confirm that your data is protected. We will never sell your data to anyone.

The EU’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 both apply from 25th May 2018.
